Stourport-on-Severn Camera Club
A Brief History
The club was formed in late 1959 with five people who loved photography meeting in the White House Public House. One of those originals is still a member today. The Club flourished and in the late sixties and all of the seventies was one of the best clubs in the Midlands with members having success in competitions and exhibitions all over the Photographic World.
There followed a gradual decline in membership mirroring the decline in the popularity of photography in general until at the end of 1999 we were down to 12 or 13 members.
As the Digital Age began interest was broadened and ‘Old Dogs’ had to learn ‘New Tricks’ stimulating
A dialog between young and not so young, which has helped all. We now have 25 members a flourishing print section and interesting meetings every week. If you like photography and would like to spend 2 hours a week with similar folk the why not join us, you would be made most welcome.
